PNR Status Western Railway

Western Railway in its present form came into existence on 5th November, 1951 by the merger of the erstwhile Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway (BB&CI), with other State Railways viz, Saurashtra, Rajputana and Jaipur. The BB&CI Railway was itself incorporated in 1855.In 1864, the railway was extended up to Mumbai.

It serves the entire state of Gujarat, the eastern portions of Western Madhya Pradesh, and coastal Maharashtra. In 1928, the first electric train on this segment was launched between Churchgate and Borivali. The main railway lines of Indian Railways that come under the jurisdiction of Western Railways are Ratlam - Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad - Vadodara and Palanpur - Ahmedabad. WR covers the state of Gujarat, the eastern segment of Rajasthan, a fraction of Western Madhya Pradesh and coast of Maharashtra. Western Railway serves number of ports on the west coast of India. The Western coast of India has a number of ports, most important being Kandla, Okhla, Porbandar, Bhavnagar in Gujarat and Mumbai in Maharashtra. It is infact the busiest railway networks in India.
